WISDOM IN THE STORM | James 1:5-8
If your trial has left you more confused than complete, James has a next step for you: stop guessing, start asking. This week we look at what it means to ask God for wisdom - and why faith that wavers with every bit of bad news can never quite receive it.
Continuing our series through James 1, we pick up right after "count it all joy" (James 1:2-4) to ask the question every honest believer eventually asks in a trial: what do I do when I don't understand what's happening?
In this message:
πΉ THE ASK (v.5a) - Why wisdom is spiritual insight, not information, and how the story of the blind man in John 9 shows us the difference between speculating about a trial and asking God about it.
πΉ THE ABUNDANCE (v.5b) - What it actually means that God gives "liberally and without reproach" - and why so many of us are quietly relating to a God who isn't real, one who's irritated or keeping score.
πΉ THE ANCHOR (v.6-8) - What it looks like to be "double-minded" and "tossed by the wind," and why faith has to be an anchor you hold onto before the storm hits, not a forecast that changes with the day.
One call to action this week: one trial you've been guessing about instead of praying about - bring it to God plainly, ask for wisdom, and don't let the next 24 hours toss you off what He says.

Arise in Faith | James 1:2-4 | Manningham Christian Centre
Trials aren't here to break you β they're here to reveal you. In this message from James 1:2-4, we unpack what it really means to "count it all joy" when life gets hard, why testing reveals character rather than creating it, and how patience does its full work in us so we end up lacking nothing.
Three things testing does in you:πΉ Testing REVEALS what's really thereπΉ Testing REQUIRES you to stay in the fight, not run from itπΉ Testing REWARDS those who wait
Whatever trial you're walking through right now, this word will encourage you to stop being the thermometer of your circumstances and start being the thermostat.
π Scripture referenced: James 1:2-4 (NKJV), Psalm 34:19, Galatians 6:7-9, Hebrews 4:15, Genesis 22:1-14, Luke 8:15, Matthew 11:2-3, Nehemiah 8:10

Most people want to be devoted to God. Very few are willing to do what Mary of Bethany did.
She broke open a jar worth a year's wages and poured it all over Jesus' feet β in public, without explanation, while people around her openly questioned whether she had lost her mind. And Jesus looked at her critics and said: wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what she has done will be told as a memorial to her.
Not Paul's conversion. Not Peter's confession. This woman's act of devotion. Remembered everywhere, forever.
In the final installment of The Devoted Life, we close out eight levels of devotion with the three that most people never reach β not because they aren't available, but because they require something the earlier levels don't:
πΉ Affection β the shift from "I should worship" to "I genuinely want to be near God." Mary sitting at His feet in Luke 10 while Martha performed.πΉ Surrender β bringing your unmanaged grief, your unanswered prayers, and your quiet accusation of "where were You?" to the feet of Jesus anyway. Mary falling in John 11.πΉ Abiding β when you've been near Him long enough that devotion stops being an effort and starts being an overflow. Mary pouring everything in John 12 β because the fullness had nowhere else to go.
We also address something that has caused two thousand years of confusion: who exactly is Mary of Bethany, and why has she been misidentified, conflated with Mary Magdalene, and overlooked for so long?
Paul shows us how devotion begins. Peter shows us how devotion forms. Mary shows us what devotion becomes.
This is Part 3 of The Devoted Life β the conclusion of a three-part series on the eight levels of devotion. Watch Parts 1 and 2 on our channel.

Most of us don't struggle to believe in God. We struggle to feel like we're enough for Him.
In this message from The Devoted Life series, we follow the Apostle Peter β the most relatable figure in the entire New Testament β from a fishing boat on the Lake of Gennesaret all the way to a beach breakfast with the risen Jesus. His story is messy, honest, and full of falls. And it's one of the most powerful maps for devoted life the Bible gives us.
Together we trace four of the eight levels of devotion woven through Peter's journey:
πΉ Rhythm β the impulsive, sword-drawing Peter becomes the man who shows up to the temple at the same hour every single dayπΉ Identity β Jesus speaks "rock" over a man who is anything but, before he has earned a single thingπΉ Integration β faith steps out of the boat and into the storm, learning to stay present with God in ordinary lifeπΉ Love β on a beach, over breakfast, Jesus asks the only question that matters: "Do you love Me?"
This is Part 2 of a three-part series. If you missed Part 1 featuring the Apostle Paul, find it on our channel.

Was the Earth Created in 6 days? Rod Walsh

In this powerful message, Rod Walsh from Creation Ministries International (CMI) tackles one of the most debated questions in the church today: did God create the earth in six literal days, or over millions of years?
Rod examines the scientific and biblical case for a young earth, unpacking key discrepancies and assumptions behind old-earth dating methods, and shows why the six-day creation account in Genesis holds up to scrutiny.
Recorded live at Manningham Christian Centre's Sunday Service, July 11, 2026.

Are you devoted to God β or just attending? There's a difference. And most of us know it.The Devoted Life is a three-part series that traces eight levels of devotion using some of the most powerful stories in the Bible. In Part 1, we open with the Apostle Paul β a man who went from violently hunting down Christians to declaring that his entire former life was worthless compared to knowing Christ.
His story isn't just inspiring. It's a map.In this message we uncover the first three levels of devotion:πΉ Awareness β learning to notice a God who is already presentπΉ Desire β trading guilt-driven faith for genuine hungerπΉ Rhythm β building a life sturdy enough to hold your devotion on the hard days
Wherever you are on this journey β brand new to faith or decades in β this series was made for you.

You believe worship matters. So why is it so hard to fully enter in?
In Part Two of ARISE: The Call to Worship, we get honest about something most of us have never stopped to examine β the conditions we quietly place on God before we'll respond to Him.
If I feel like it. If I like the songs. If I don't look awkward. If God shows up.
Sound familiar? Those aren't just preferences. They're terms. And it's time to drop them.
Paul and Silas were flogged and chained in a prison cell at midnight β and they sang. Not because the conditions were right. Because they knew something about worship that changed everything. This message will show you what they knew.
In this sermon we unpack:β The difference between a conditional worshipper and a passionate oneβ Why your voice in corporate worship is never just about youβ What the throne room of heaven sounds like β and why your voice belongs in that soundβ How Spirit-and-truth worship doesn't just express your faith β it grows itβ The one question that will reframe why you walk through the doors on a Sunday
This isn't about becoming a better singer. It's about becoming a surrendered one.
He is worthy. That's enough. It's time to arise.

What if you were never meant to sit on the sidelines of your own faith?
In Part One of our brand new series ARISE: The Call to Worship, we open in 1 Peter 2 and discover something that changes everything β you are not a spectator. You are a living stone. And the God of the universe has been looking for a home in you.
This message will challenge the way you think about worship, about why you gather, and about what is actually at stake when God's people come together with wholehearted hearts.
Because here's the truth: the life of a church will only rise as high as its worship. And God is not looking for perfect singers β He is looking for surrendered hearts.
In this sermon we unpack:β Why God has always been searching for a dwelling place on Earthβ The epic biblical journey from Eden to the Church that puts YOU in the storyβ Why your worship is never just personal β it is part of something far biggerβ What it means to be built together as a spiritual house for God's presence
Whether you've been in church your whole life or you're just beginning to explore faith, this message will call you higher.
You were made for this. It's time to arise.
